My wife and I went to the Bronx zoo a few years back and they had an educational enclosure that the zoo visitors all gathered in to listen to one of the zoo keepers as they talked about the tiger just on the other side of the mesh fencing that the tiger could easily just slash through if he wanted. I was never so close to a tiger in my life. Even though the tiger was busy with the bloody popsicle they gave him. But trust me when I tell you I saw firsthand how big a tiger is. His mouth is the size of a 5 gallon bucket opening...lined with sharp dagger like teeth. His head is huge...if a human head only weighs eight pounds then a tigers head weighs 30...His paws....they were at least the size of the plate a pot roast comes out on ( each one ) complete with retractable claws each claw/nail 3 x thicker than your middle finger and 1/3 longer 4 1/2 to 5 inches. That's just a tiger. Lion's are bigger than them. So...you will not catch me on any hiking excursions in Africa or India any time soon. Aside from being afraid of being eaten by a tiger I'd need to worry about being stomped on by an angry elephant in Musthe. No thank you.
