The BOOK!

Moebius created over 1000 storyboards for the Alejandro Jodorowsky’s adaptation of Dune. 1000 boards all collected in that book Frank Pavich, the director wields.

One of the coolest revelations in this great documentary was that TWO copies of the complete storyboards for Jodorowsky's Dune actually exist. Aside from being a great movie artifact, it's a look into what could have been the most amazing movies of the 1970s. Those Jodorowsky recruited to help him like Moebeus and Giger, were given the chance to be super creative in a time before the age of the big movie blockbuster...something Giger helped create with his designs for Alien. He created one of the greatest looking and scariest monsters of all time and I don't think that iconic Alien creature would exist without the work Giger first did for Jodorowsky - a mad genius who hyperinspired other mad geniuses. I love this documentary so much for that and hope that many of you give it a watch. It's a great look into the creative process, something I am a bit obsessive about - in case you have ever noticed.

It's really interesting. His movies are a trip to watch and not very accessible but this one would have been outworldly amazing. A game changer. And I say that with Dune being my favorite book. Salvador Dali as the Emperor of the Universe, my head explodes just thinking about it.

my god...we should pull off an elaborate heist and steal that book, Kal.

You know half way through the caper that Nick Cage would show up and gum up the whole works.

I have to confess I've never seen a Jodorowsky movie but I'm not surprised, from his reputation, that this film never got made. It just sounded too ambitious, too insane and too costly. David Lynch's version was crazy enough...

That book of storyboards looks incredible. Moebius was such a genius. Still can't believe he and Geiger are both gone...

That makes this documentary and this idea so important. It all goes back to Jodorowsky. And it's DUNE so for me this is gold. To hear and see and watch Giger and Moebius work is amazing.

We watched this in our local indie theatre. The house was sold out - packed with fans of Dune, Jodorowski, and eclectic film in general. So cool to watch surrounded by that audience. The man's obsession with his work was not only tangible and compelling, but infectious.
