I was a huge fan of the group Queen as a teen and I was one of those who was kinda blown away by their contribution to the Flash Gordon movie. It was such a bizarre and unique attempt at a popular property that it have never been equaled before or since. Today I can't image the movie without the soundtrack by Queen. This is another classic I must revisit this week.

Given how this movie is both corny and porny, I can't help but wonder if they deliberately set out to do a gender-swap remake of "Barbarella".
Selling your argument in a stretch because clearly NO ONE had any frickin' idea what they were doing with Flash Gordon. Nothing was so deliberate as your comparisons to Barbarella. That only came after the two are place side by side.
Three different people gave me the soundtrack album for my birthday the year that film cam out.
